Dr. Michael B. Bracken is the Susan Dwight Bliss Professor of Epidemiology; Professor of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Science; and Professor of Neurology at the Center for Perinatal, Pediatric, and Environmental Epidemiology at Yale University.
Bracken was the Director of the National Acute Spinal Cord Injury Study (1977-2001) and the Director of the Yale Perinatal Epidemiology Unit (1979-2002). He was the President of the American College of Epidemiology from 1996-1997 and was elected President of the Society for Epidemiological Research in 2006.
Bracken is a member of the editorial board of the Cochrane Collaboration's Neonatal Review Group and an Overseer of the American Journal of Epidemiology. He is a reviewer for many other scientific journals. He is the author of over 300 scientific publications and two books, Perinatal Epidemiology and Effective Care of the Newborn Infant.
Bracken was educated at the University of London (B.Sc. Zoology, 1968) and Yale University (M.P.H. Health Education, 1970; M.Phil. Epidemiology, 1971; and Ph.D. Epidemiology, 1974).
