At the request of the U.S. State Department, Dr. Ruth Kava, ACSH nutrition director, and Mr. Jeff Stier, ACSH associate director, met with representatives from the Japanese Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries and the Ministry of Health, Labor, and Welfare. The visitors, Mr.Takuya Kondo and Ms. Naoko Nakayama, were in the United States as part of the State Department’s International Visitor Leadership Program and were interested in ACSH's work in identifying and communicating science-based information on food safety and health to consumers and the media. Dr. Kava and Mr. Stier explained ACSH's mandate, organization, and modes of communication and provided the guests with examples of publications and media outreach.
