Dr. Ruth Kava, of the American Council on Science and Health says they provide a sweet ride without the guilt trip.

"The common characteristic of all of these sweeteners, these alternative sweeteners is that they're very very sweet, they're hundreds of times sweeter than sugar is," Dr. Kava said...

"They're all similar in that they're all synthetic," Dr Kava said. "That is they're all made by laboratory processes."
