A new study reported online in the European Heart Journal claims that consuming 7.5 grams of chocolate daily can result in a significantly lower blood pressure than consuming just a sprinkle of it daily, with an incredible 39% reduction in rates of heart attack and stroke.

There is absolutely no plausible explanation from this dramatic effect, says Dr. Ross. I like chocolate, but before advising patients to eat more of it, I d want to see a much better study.

This story got an enormous amount of attention, says Dr. Whelan. Then again, studies like this come out at least once a year, especially around this time. I think the Easter bunny lobby might be behind this.
