As we mentioned earlier this week, ACSH s Dr. Josh Bloom is not a big fan of how the CDC is attempting to control the spread of Ebola. He has written an op-ed on Science 2.0, entitled Preventing Ebola: Screen Or Screen Door? which reflects this rather clearly.

He has written an op-ed on Science 2.0, entitled Preventing Ebola: Screen Or Screen Door? which reflects this rather clearly.

In the article he says: It is pretty hard to trust or admire our government on a good day. However, this is more of a theoretical concern than a practical one, since they haven't had a whole lot of them lately.

And, Much of [the fear] can be attributed to media scares and frenzies the currency of ratings and it is clear that this is one of the main drivers here. But it is not the only one. The current Ebola outbreak is unprecedented, and this alone is guaranteed to generate fear. And, when you add in the supreme incompetence of our government (and mistrust thereof by those of us who are at their mercy), being scared is maybe not so ridiculous this time despite the virtually nonexistent threat to most of us right now.
