International supermodel by day and self-styled public health expert by night, Gisele Bundchen provides new moms with controversial advice in her latest interview with Harper s Bazaar UK: Some people here think they don t have to breastfeed, and I think, Are you going to give chemical food to your child when they are so little?

While shaking his head, ACSH's Dr. Gilbert Ross responds, This is so wrong in so many ways. He jokes, Chemicals, really? Thank goodness breast milk has no chemicals.

As if the hole she dug herself into wasn t already large enough, Bundchen continues her nonsensical rant: There should be a worldwide law, in my opinion, that mothers should breastfeed their babies for six months.

Dubbed a sancti-mommy by Liz Gumbinner, editor of coolmompicks.com, Bundchen even managed to irritate breastfeeding advocacy group La Leche League International, whose executive director, Barbara Emanuel, spoke out against the model s comments. One mother doesn t have to be wrong so that another mother can be right. There are lots of choices out there for women, and La Leche League respects those choices.

Staffers at ACSH agree. Next time we need runway advice, we promise to seek your expert opinion Ms. Bundchen, but please do us all a favor and leave the science up to us.
