Writing in the Syracuse Post-Standard, American Council on Science and Health Senior Director of Medicine and Public Health Dr. Gil Ross notes that the formal ban on natural gas extraction using hydraulic fracturing - fracking - will have consequences for New York citizens, notably the poor. While wealthy elites continue to lobby for land next to their estates to be turned into state parks, forcing the less fortunate to pay more for electricity has environmental, cultural and health consequences.[Read more].
