Wolfgang Vogel

Wolfgang H. Vogel was born in Dresden, Germany, in 1930 and earned his Ph.D. degree in organic chemistry at the Universities of Stuttgart in 1958. He also received my post-
doctoral training in Pharmacology at the Medical College of the University of Illinois in Chicago and the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda. He joined Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia as Associate Professor of Pharmacology and later Professor of Pharmacology as well as Professor of Psychiatry and Human Behavior. His many awards include excellence in teaching and the Humboldt Award in 1975. His research was in the general areas of pharmacology, ocular pharmacology, and psychopharmacology. Dr. Vogel has published over 300 scientific papers and eight books on pharmacology. He retired in 2003 and now serves on the American Council on Science and Health's Scientific Advisory Board.
