Bloomberg daughter injured in equestrian accident

New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s daughter Georgina was in a scary horse-riding accident during a tournament Friday night. She fell from her mount and was knocked unconscious but declined medical treatment. She was still in pain Saturday and went to the hospital, where it was discovered she suffered a concussion and a fractured spine. Dr. Ross says it’s important for anyone who suffers head trauma to seek medical attention. “Loss of consciousness after head trauma is always a serious sign,” he says. “It requires urgent medical evaluation at least, and most often radiological evaluation with a head CT scan to make sure no bleeding has occurred, which can be inapparent to the patient at first yet prove life-threatening.”
