In addition to the usual supplement craze, some people in New York City are willing to pay more than $2.50 dollars for a bottle of a new brand of molecule water. The big secret behind the label? It comes straight from the tap!

In addition to the usual supplement craze, some people in New York City are willing to pay more than $2.50 dollars for a bottle of a new brand of molecule water. The big secret behind the label? It comes straight from the tap!

Molecule water, as it's called, is nothing more than tap water that s been further purified using a 7-step process, some of which involve magnets and UV light. According to the owner of the Molecule water boutique, the process is necessary in order to get rid of all the "toxins." But given that NYC water is continually praised for its quality, one might question how much purifying it needs to begin with.

ACSH s Dr. Josh Bloom has a better idea: Take the $250 you can save by not buying 100 bottles of Molecule water and go see a therapist. It would be money better spent.

For an extra dollar, you can even fortify your Molecule water with vitamins and minerals. Rumpelstiltskin turned straw into gold, ACSH's Dr. Ruth Kava observes. Now these marketers are trying to do the same with water! But drinking this water would most likely improve one s health about as much as eating straw would.
